Question
QUESTION: Hi Jedediah, my girlfriend and me live in Gran Canaria. About 5 days ago, whe shooed away what she though was a cockroach only to find it was a baby lizard (type unknown). It is about 2 cm long and was a green/yellow in colour almost translucent. We have him/her in a large plastic box 50cm x 50cm x 20cm. He has water some rocks and bark, which he is currently sitting under. We don't know what to feed him, have tried fruit, fly's (dead) a little cooked chicken (which he seemed to lick) he has also changed colour whilst he is sat in the wood to a dark brown colour although the tail is still a little orange with rings on. I was wondering if you have any advice on trying to keep him or whether we should let him go back into his own habitat?
Many Thanks in advance

Mandy and Gareth

ANSWER: Hello Gareth,

Well, can you post a picture of him or her just to try & get an idea what it is?
It is tiny for sure!
Are you keeping a heatlamp over him?   I would keep some type of basking light on him to keep him warm anyway.
I am not sure as to the type of foods though he is tiny I would say the small flys like you are trying, & small baby crickets if you can buy those.
It would be helpful to know if he is nocturnal or diurnal though.  If we cannot figure out his type & get him to eating, it would be better to put him back in his native habitat.

QUESTION: Thanks for the info Tracie,
We do not have a heat lamp on him as it is very warm here (around 30 degrees)For the last couple of days he has been sat under a piece of wood and was very dark in colour, today he has come out and has been running around. He currently looks as the attached picture (which isn't very clear I'm afraid) I took it with him next to a pen lid.
I checked back through some of the posts and we have been placing chicken baby food in his container. Not sure if he is eating it though, I hope you can help us some more as my Girlfriend seems to have adopted him

STREWTH!

Answer
Hello Gareth,
How is the gecko doing?  There wasn't a pic attached.  That's ok.   It would be nice though to know what type of gecko it is.
He will need a basking lamp of some type, but just a low wattage one.
Can you tell if he has eaten anything yet?
That is good if he is active too.  Also, do not put sand down for substrate.  The bark is fine as long as he does not try to eat it.  You can use paper towels or non adhesive shelf liner instead so he doesn't lick it & get impacted right now he is so tiny.
If you want to send me a picture to my home email it is  Drache613@tampabay.rr.com
I need to know what type it is so I can pinpoint the setup better.
