QuestionI have a frilled dragon that is about 1 years old. He has always been a good eater. But recently he has stopped eating and has lost some weight. He also tries to dig burrows to sleep in under this half log I have. The temp. usually is close to a hundred degrees on the hot side and about 85 on the cool side. I think it started when I raised the humidity up but I am not sure. Thanks
Answer When an animal starts losing weight during a time of year when most dragons are piggy and wanting to look their best for mating, I would say it is most prudent to take him to the vet and rule out parasites. I would also give him a baby-warm bath to rule out dehydration issues. If you are using a calcium sand substrate, I would change it to children's playsand immediately and ask the vet about possible impaction.
