Basking Lamp for Beared Dragon

Hello,

I have had my beardie for almost a year now which I adopted from a friend. I have always used a normal sun glo buld by exo terra as his basking lamp. I needed to buy a new one today however the store I went to was out of stock. I did purchase a Heat Glo 100w infrared bulb by exo terra instead. The sales person said it would be fine to use as a basking lamp. Is infrared ok to keep as a basking lamp? Or should I switch back and try another store.....

Hello Jody,

Are you using a UVB light?  
I don't recommend any infrared lighting as it just is not bright enough for them.  A regular halogen flood light is much better than a infrared reptile lamp.  
I honestly don't know why they even sell the infrared lights for reptiles.  
Try Lowes or Home Depot for the halogen light.
