Question
my pet shop has ran out of crickets and my snow leopard geckos are refusing to eat the worms I need to feed them as they havn't had anything since yesterday and the pet shop still has no crickets in.  What can I get them to eat.  The are a pair of adults male, and female.
Prompt answer please.

Answer
All my answers are as prompt as can be in light of the fact that I run a reptile rescue, and a business, and only volunteer here as I have time. All answers are addressed in the order received unless it is an emergency. To be honest, this is nothing to be in a rush over. Geckos do not need to be feed everyday, and ideally should not be. Crickets contain high amounts of triglyceride fats which take time for digestion to break down carbon bonds. When fed everyday it is likely that the geckos metabolism has not yet dealt completely with the meal from the previous day.

If you are feeding that often, then only pinhead or 1/4" crickets should be used to avoid possible impaction, enteritis, or overeating. Captive geckos in a tank will not get the kind of exercise they otherwise would in the wild, so they do not need to hunt nightly for prey. The most commonly accepted standard for adult gecko feeding is 3 times per week. In circumstances where supply is low or the gecko needs to be left, they will more than survive a week without food if they are otherwise healthy and properly stocked on fat reserves in their tail.
