Question
I have a male and a female Cuban knight anoles. They are about 5yrs old. Recently the female started shedding and will not clean herself off at all. They get misted regularly. Why would she stop cleaner herself and what do I do to help her?

Answer
Hi Terri,
Her shed may not be ready to come off yet which could be why she isn't cleaning herself off at this point.  Shed that doesn't want to come off as it should is generally due to too low of humidity.
You can give her a soak in some warm shallow water...you don't want the water any deeper than her elbows when she is laying flat.
You may find that in the summer, especially if you have air conditioning, your home is much dryer as the A/C removes the humidity from the air, which in turn will make their cage dryer.
Adding some peat moss inside a nylon stocking which you can soak and place in the cage may also help...placing it in the warm area should create more humidity.  Ideal would be using a humidifier in their cage if possible. With the species needing such a high humidity level(about 80%), it can be tough to maintain that level without using a humidifier in their cage.
If there are areas that the skin just won't come off, you can apply a small amount of vaseline to the area.
