Hi there!
 I just bought a mhd and have been trying to research about at night for them..do I keep the basking lamp on all night? or do they need the darkness?

Mountain Horned Dragon, I assume?  You should keep a consistant day and night cycle for all reptiles.  12 hours of light with 12 hours of darkness is usually preferred.  You can use a timer to make it easy.

Mountain horned dragons do well with a night time temperature drop.  So long as home temperatures are above 65F at night, you do not need any heat source at night.
