Questionhi, i am interested in buying an africian spurred tortoise,
but im about to move to maryland, usa. im afriad that the
cold tempetures will cause helath issues for the animal. i
think they do not hibernate, so would i have to keep the
tortoise indoors all winter long? and how difficult is it
to keep one indoors?
AnswerYou are correct in your assumptions. Keeping it indoors while it's baby is not that bad, but trying to keep it indoors when it's a 200lb adult... that's a little different. Even here in FL they have to be protected from cold weather, so owning a spur-thigh is big commitment. Look into Russian tortoises. Same look, but small size!
