Light for Bearded Dragon

Question
We are currently using an 18" Reptisun tube 10.0 bulb for our UVB light.  It has been about a year and we need to replace it.  There was a lot of info earlier this year about avoiding compact bulbs as well as the Reptiglo 10.0.  We are having some difficulty finding the Reptisun 10.0.  Is the Reptiglo still considered "bad"?  What bulbs are you now recommending for bearded dragons.  Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hello Ken,

I am glad you are replacing your flourescent tube UVB.  One year is too long to wait in between replacements as the UVB emissions decline after 5 to 6 months.
The Reptiglo 10 is still under review, & until I have seen the UVB meter data for this bulb, I do not recommend it because it has caused alot of health problems & eye problems too.
Try looking on:  www.petmountain.com

More specifically here is the link to it:

I recommend the Reptisun 5, the Reptisun 10, the Arcadia D3 12% but that is usually found mostly in the UK for the flourescent tube lights.
For the mercury vapor bulbs, I recommend the Megaray, the T-rex Active UV heat, the Powersun, & the Solar Glo in that exact order.

Yes, ALL of the coil & compact UVB lights are still unacceptable.  Personally, I don't think that they are just a good bulb all around.  The way that coils are designed, it causes too much glare into their eyes which can potentially damage them.  They just do not put out the best lighting for them.

I hope that helps.
