Question
hi wondering if you could help me with my leopard gecko. ive had vinnie just over 3 weeks. vinnie eats every night and has gained 5 grams since last week. when i first bought vinnie the end of his/her nose was normal, but the other day i noticed what appears to be a hole, its like inbetween each nostril right on the end of his/her nose.

i cant find anything on the internet to suggest what it could be.

Answer
That does look like an injury, but at least it appears to be free of infection, from what I can see.  I would keep a close eye on it--if you notice that it doesn't heal, gets worse, or the skin around it reddens at all, take him to a vet right away.

As to how it happened--he may have rubbed his nose on something rough, or snagged it on something sharp.  Check the cage for things that may be responsible that he could stick his nose into.  Be sure that no crickets are left in the cage after a feeding, as they can bite the gecko while it is asleep.
