i have had my bearded dragoon for 1 week, on the the day i noticed he seemed a bit off, in the afternoon he wasn't bothered about his food, was breathing heavy and was sleepy. this morning he has woke up and did not want any meal worms,  he did do a poop though haha. he seems abit life less, his breathing has calmed down though. he has reti-glo 10 long bulb light, i have read they are no good is this true? his temp in cage is at 110 (45c) in basking  point and around 30 c in cool end is this ok, im worrie about him! louisa x

Answer
Hello Louisa,

How close is the Reptiglo 10 to him?
You are correct.  The Reptiglo 10 tube bulbs have had some bad reviews.  Currently, they are supposed to be fixing the problem, but I don't think it has gotten done yet.  This light has incorrect phosphor blends on the light, & the improper glass was used so it allowed low wavelength UVB to penetrate through thinner spots on the glass.  The lower wavelength UVB does not allow proper D3 synthesis which will affect their ability to absorb calcium.
Are you using a bright white basking light alongside of the tube bulb also, on one end of your tank?
The basking temps are fine, but you will want to lower the cool side temperatures to around 26-28, so he isn't overheating in there.  Good he has gone to the bathroom though.
How often are you giving him calcium?  How old is he?
What do you measure the temperatures with, a stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun?
