Vibrations effect leopard gecko eggs?

Question
QUESTION: hello, my leopard gecko is about to lay her eggs, i have my incubator set up down stairs. right outside my bedroom door there is a drum set, it is very loud and sends out vibrations..i am wondering if the vibrations and the volume of the drums will effect my leopard gecko eggs in any way??
thanks

ANSWER: Hi Krissi,

I don't think you need to be worried. I don't think air vibration (sound) is a problem and the only real concern might be if the eggs themselves were subjected to vibration. Amniotic eggs have several layers of membranes that would insulate the embryo in addition to the protection from the incubator and substrate. I really think the eggs would have to practically be on the drum set before this was a problem!
The main fragile aspect of reptile eggs is rotating them. This can dislodge the attachment of the embryo from the internal membrane. It is also critical that the developing embryo stay in the same position relative to the air space inside the egg.

QUESTION: thanks, the thing i was more worried about was the base drum, i can feel the vibrations it makes on my feet and when i put my hand on something, i can feel it moving....do you think if i put lots of padding under the incubator, do think it will be fine? i just don't know how much the eggs would vibrate inside the incubator

Answer
Hi Krissi,

That's what I would do in your situation. A folded blanket or a couple layers of folded towels under the incubator should deaden any vibration before it reaches your eggs. The bones in your hands and (I assume) sock feet, are very close to the surface with little padding in between so they pickup and transfer the feeling of vibration quite easily. Any type of soft insulating layer under your incubator should absorb the vibration sufficiently.
