QuestionI have had my newt for 8 years now. I rescued him from a pet store I worked at where some one had left him(or at least I thought it was a him) on the floor in a little plastic bag with barely any water. He or she has been in its own tank its whole life with me, and recently added a rams horn snail for a buddy and to keep the tank cleaner. There are now eggs on a part of his castle, and I do not know if i am going to have little newts, if these eggs will just die off due to lack of fertilization, if the snail did it, or what is going on. I just want to make sure they are not going to be a hazard to my newt. Please advise ASAP. Thanks and have a great day!

AnswerHi Sheena
I am sorry in the delay in answering your question
Chances are that it might be the snails laying the eggs especially if they are laid near the top of the waterline in the tank but if it is the newt-you are correct that they would not be fertile
Here is a care sheet link that gives some info and other links on these newts

Good Luck with him/her and congrats on doing such a good job of taking care of him/her
