Green Iggy

Question
I recently adopted 2 green iggy's - about 16-18 months old from a rescue center and adore them! Here is my problem: They are obviously taking on their sexing characteristics and I have one of each; she is about 22" total and he is slightly smaller. They eat constantly and love to be misted! They have been co-habitating since infancy and I was lucky enough to bring their habitat with them to cut the stress of the relocation. If I remove one at a time they both freak out but if I take them both out together they're fine. I'm afraid that separating their living quarters will stress them out but at the same time I am not knowledgeable about breeding them and would hate to have something go wrong. I know its hard to breed them in captivity, what are the chances that my iggy's will attempt it?

Answer
You green iguanas will breed once they are sexually mature(2+ years old) the problem with  this is the male gets very rough with the female during this time and can cause cuts from biting also females bred too young risk being egg bound and dieing. Also eggs will only hatch if incubated I have no idea what temps or how long you'd have to look that up. another problem is you don't really want them to breed because you got them from a shelter thsi proves that they are often ahrd to find permanant homes for.....people often buy these on a whim they are often only 20/50 dollars each the lizard often dies because they dont have teh proper heating or lighting and don't feed a proper diet of healthy greens and veggies...most often then not its green iguanas in reptile reasues since they do get aggressive as they get older as well adn can bite very hard and whip you with there powerful tails. I'm offering a lnik to the best care page I know of
