Just bought green anole

Question
I just bought a green anole last night. I have one already and I haven't put them together yet. This morning I found a little black bug trying to get in his ear. I got it out and killed it and I didn't see any other bugs on him. He looks very well fed, no cuts or scrapes. I bought him because he looked very healthy. But the bug kind of scares me. He also seems to close one eye most of the time. I don't see anything on it. I just wanted to check to see if that bug means anything before I put him with my other anole.

Answer
Hello Jessica,

I would keep your anoles separate for quarantining purposes for several months.  It is always a good idea to do so, in order to avoid any parasites or worms.  What is the sex of the other anole?  Remember you cannot put males together as they are too aggressive, so if your other one is male you will need to house them separately.
The bug could have been a mite possibly.
What type of substrate are you using?  Sand, tiles, carpet?
What are the temps in the tank?  What type of basking light are you using?  What type of UVB light are you using right now, a flourescent tube bulb or a compact/coil light?
