Question
QUESTION: hi tracie i got him some moss but he keeps going to one corner at the back right he is not intrested in the cricketsor the wax worms. i don't think that he is going to shed his skin because when i dot him he had a few bits o shed skin coming off his tail and feet. he is not active at night or during the day i am starting to worry about him. the crickets are definetly smaller than the space between his eyes and he ate a wax worm the other day but since then he has not eaten or had a single drink. he can not get close to his heat lamp. it is a coiled uvb light that i have. what do you think i should do. from wesley green

ANSWER: Hello Wesley,
Let's go over your setup again.  What are the temps?  Are you measuring the temps with a digital probe or a temp gun?  Remember, he needs a hot end of around 88-90.
Why don't you take the coil UVB light out.  Just in the case it is bothering him, which since he is a small animal, it could be.  Just use a regular household lightbulb for a basking light, & he will be ok without UVB lighting right now.  It is not a must that they have it, some just opt to use it.
I think you need to get a fecal done on him, as he could have parasites which will cause illness such as lethargic behavior, loss of appetite, etc.  It doesn't have to necessarily be a reptile vet, just a vet who will do a fecal for you if you don't have a reptile vet.
You are going to need to start assist feeding him.  Get some chicken or turkey babyfood to get into him, either with a small plastic syringe or let him lick some off of your finger.

QUESTION:  hi tracie he has started to eat again but only a couple of wax worms. i think that he may be going to shed his skin because his whole head has gone a brown colour and he also had really bad constipation. the first stool was white and the second was brown. he is becoming more active now. i think that being constipated was making him feel a bit ill as he was active after he went to the toilet. wesley green

ANSWER: Hello Wesley,

GREAT news to hear that he finally went to the bathroom, & seems to be feeling better.
Remember right before they are going to shed they tend not to eat very much.
How is his head looking?  I hope that he sheds soon for you.
He should begin eating again soon.

QUESTION: Hi tracie he is a lot more active and i think that the uvb was bothering him because he is more lively. he ate three wax worms in a row yesterday morning. Does their whole body go brown when they shed because it is all starting to go brown. wesley green

Answer
Hello Wesley,

That is wonderful that he is doing better now. :-)) I was thinking that the UVB light could be bothering him.  If you want to use UVB lighting for him you can get a Reptisun 5 flourescent tube bulb, just no more coils or compacts though.
Yes, their entire body goes brownish to pinkish to white, then, they will shed.
Good that he ate too!
