Question
QUESTION: I have ordered the new light bulb and I should get in about a week. I have got him some baby food but I still can't get him to eat anything all he wants to do is sleep and I have a hard time getting him to stay awake. I am going to take him outside tomorrow and see if that helps him better. I am really worried about him I get up in the middle of the night to check on him. He is in a room by himself and I turn the lights off at night but I turn a heater on for him that stays on all night, is that a good idea? I have a little plastic box for small animals the kind you carry a small hamster in and it has a lid would that be good to put him in to put outside for a few hours? How long should I leave him outside, and is there anything I should put in there with him like water or anything like that?

ANSWER: Hello Tawny,

Great, I know that the new light will help him a lot more.
Yes, keeping a heater on him is the best idea for him right now to help keep his metabolism up.
How large is he?
I wouldn't close him up too much so he has room to move around in his sleep.
When you do take him outside, don't leave him, stay with him the entire time.  Use either a leash or just a plastic bin to put him in.  If he is docile enough you can just lay him on your lap.
I would not put any water in for him while putting him outside if you use a plastic bin or mist him because chances are it is not going to be real warm yet.  So you don't want him getting chilled.
Do you have any pictures of him?
Keep trying with the baby food with him.

QUESTION: Tracie once again thank you for all of your help. I have sad news though Rex our iguana did not make it. He died last night I could not get him to eat at all. I did take him outside all afternoon but all he wanted do do was sleep and he still would not eat. We buried him today after my son came home from school he was so heart broken he cried all afternoon. He wants another pet iguana and now that we have the correct information on how to take care of them, thanks to you, we are going to buy him another one. I do have a picture of Rex. Once again thank you so very much for all of your help you have taught me a lot. When we buy our new iguana I will let you know and I will send you pictures of him as well.

ANSWER: Hello Tawny,

Oh no!  I am sorry to hear about Rex.  I am sorry you found me too late, we could have saved him if I could have helped earlier.
I am sure your son is devastated.  He was a small one, geez.  I guess his body was just too weak.
If you need more help, don't hesitate to contact me again!
When do you plan on purchasing your new iguana?

QUESTION: We plan on taking him this weekend. We are going to a different pet store. The last store we went to did not seen to know anything about the iguanas they sell, we also found out that they are very overpriced!! We purchased Rex from them for $70.00!! This other pet store has them for $28.00 and they seem to know more about the animals they sell. The iguanas at this pet store are between 6-8 months old. I will keep you updated on how we do with the other iguana. My son is going to name it Blaze this time. I will send you a picture when we bring it home. Once again thank you so very much for all of your help, we feel confident now in taking care another iguana. Thank you very much for all of your help.

Answer
Hello Tawny,

Well, that is good you found a good store witih better prices.
I hope he will be healthy.  I am happy to hear that the iguanas are a little older at that pet store, that will help a lot.
Yes, keep me posted on Blaze.  Is your son doing alright today, after losing Rex?  I hope he will enjoy Blaze.
I think this time around you will be more prepared.
