Mellers chameleon

I have a mellers that has a swollen leg. The local reptile expert has suggested a uvb light or time in the sun.  I am ok with either,my question is, Which would be best?  He is young, but came from someone who wasnt taking good care of him.  He has lost a claw on this swollen limb.  Any help that you could suggest would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Kim,
You need to take him to a vet. Swollen limbs will not heal with simple sunlight or UV rays. He will need medication and possibly an operation if there is too much built up fluid.

A UV light needs to be provided anyway at 10-12 hours a day every day. It is extremely important to their health.
