Question
Hey there. One of my 4 mo old baby ball python snakes are having an extremly bad shed. They've been shedding for going on like a month and a half. I've but mineral oil on it, let him swim around at the bottom of my sink with warm water, but he just cant shed it off. Hes has a heating rock, correct lighting (UV and Heat) and hes fed 2 mice a week. But this shedding this is bothering me. Some pet stores say, hes fine, its ok that he is shedding that long. But I honostly dont think so being that i've have snakes in my past that dont shed for almost 2 months. But anyways, id love some help

Thanks,
Katie

Answer
He is fine.  He may just not have a good enough surface to rub up on for shedding.  Plus the environment plays a big role, like humidity.  If it's humid, he shouldn't shed so much, but if it's dry, he will probably shed more.  Different snakes shed at different rates.  He sounds just fine, I wouldn't be too worried, just put something rough and heavy in there with him to rub on while shedding.
