Ball python laying eggs

Question
my 25 year old ball python who I have kept alone for 16 years has just laid 7 eggs.  What do I ?do?  How did this happen?  I am assuming that the eggs are not fertile ( I am not sure that BP's are a-sexual) how long do I leave them with the snake?  Is there anyway that they may be able to hatch?

Please advise.  Thank you very much.
Kim

Answer
Hi Kim,
Surprise, surprise. If the eggs are hard, not soft and leathery and the are very dark you should remove them and dispose of as soon as possible. BUT! if they are white and soft they may hatch. Snakes can retain sperm for a very long time. This does happen. If this is the case keep them warm and moist. Mark the tops with a permanent marker so they don't get turned over. be prepared to wait 60 days. Remove any that do turn dark in color. Good Luck.
