Question
QUESTION: Hi, Tracie Im Chance, i read one of your conversations with someone reguarding coccidia and my leopard gecko has all the symptoms thats persons did(staying in one place most of the day and refusing to eat,and sleeping all day and night, but i had two others in there with her but i removed her for the time being and to be honest i have recently been out of the house lately and there has been a biuld up of fecies and to end it off she is getting to be very skinny, she is done laying eggs for a while. thankyou

ANSWER: Hello Chance,

Sorry to hear your leopard gecko is not well.  You did put her in her own tank?
If she is not eating right now & losing weight, I would try getting some chicken or turkey baby food to give to her through a syringe daily to help her out.
Have you monitored her stools now that she is alone?
I would look at getting a fecal done to determine just how bad the coccidia or worms are.  You could also try a product called parazap that doesn't kill the parasites or worms, but helps to clean out the colon & expedite the excretion flushing them out more quickly.
How many eggs did she lay?

QUESTION: umm about 9 or 10 but she has been done for about a month, yes i did remove her and idk know if there is a local vet that can check her fecies and i really dont know what to look for, i have a local reptile store which i purchased her from do you think they have any idea? i would also like to know if it is passed on to the babies and if so what will happen thankyou tracie

ANSWER: Hello Chance,

Coccidia is directly passed through fecal to oral routes, etc.
So if they were all housed together, there is a possibility your other ones are infected too.  Are they exhibiting any illnesses right now?
She laid 9 or 10 eggs?  How old is she?  That is a lot of eggs for her to lay or were they spaced out?
You could go ahead & try the parazap to help flush out the body to see if that makes a difference.
I would call the reptile store to inquire if they may know of a nearby vet who could do a fecal for you.

Let me know how they are all doing.

QUESTION: Hello Tracie, she is about 3yrs old and they were spaced out.they are not showing it right now ,but is it alright if i give the parazap to the other two as well? And the stool i can have checked at my school in my biology class so i will have it checked there tomorrow. Thanks again Tracie.

Answer
Hello Chance,

Excellent, that sounds like a plan.  Let me know how the fecal tests go in biology.
Yes, that is fine to give your other two some parazap.  The directions are to use it for 7 days, so keep them well hydrated during this time as it does expedite waste & water out of their systems.

Let me know how things are going.
