Question
ok so i want to get a long tailed lizard..i really like animals and wouldn't mind it being in my room.. but my parents wont allow me to so i was thinking about putting them in the basement(by the glass door)
is it a good idea?
and also my tank in a 20 gallon and i was thinking of getting a anole too can they live together? because i have seen other people say that their green anole and long tail lizard live fine together.. if i do put them together would it be better to put a male long tail and a female anole because i have also read that green male anoles are very territorial
my room isn't very big but i have the perfect place for the tank if i get to put it there.. but will breathing the same air and humidity coming from the tank be bad for me.. especially because i sleep with my door closed...
and if i choice to keep it open at night will it make any difference?

Answer
Hello Will, I beleive I had already answered this question for you but I will do it again to be sure we are on the same page.

-I don't suggest putting him near the glass door because the heat from the sun can cause the tank to turn into an oven and nobody likes a baked pet. The basement itself is fine but not near any windows and as long as you can upkeep the humidity and temperatures for them.

I don't suggest mixing two species of reptile together no matter how similar they are. They are likely to spread disease and get eachother sick. They are also solitary animals meaning they live by themselves in the wild. They do not enjoy or need company. They will rarely live with their own species let alone enjoy company from another. They also have different scents and that can cause problems in territorial disputes. Another species invading their territory could turn out much worse then their own species.
Yes, many people do mix the two species and have good luck but I wouldnt want to see anybody take the chance and risk something going horribly wrong.
If you are to get them both then get two females. Two males will definately fight and even the male and female pair could be dangerous. Two females is the best option and least amount of risk.

- Breathing the air and th ehumidity wont be bad for you as long as you keep the tank clean there wouldn't be any problems. If you let the tank go too long without cleanign the bacteria could be dangerous so just keep it clean. There is nothing wrong with the humidity. Even with the door closed it shouldnt be a problem. They would probably enjoy the fresh air flow with the door open however it wont be a problem.

Good luck, hope that helps.
