my green anole sleeps alot

QUESTION: my pet lucy is a green anole and i check up on her daily to see if she is alright and she is always sleeping also she is always brown (i barley got her 4 days ago) but the only time she turns green is when I carry her please tell me what to do?

ANSWER: Hello Erica,

Well, what type of basking light & UVB light are you using for Lucy?
What sized tank is she in?  What type of thermometer are you using to measure her temps with?  
They do need bright lighting in their tanks.  Otherwise, she will be dark & lethargic.  I also highly recommend a UVB light as well.  It will help her absorb calcium & nutrients much more efficiently.  Get the Reptisun 10 flourescent tube bulb & use that along with a bright white basking light.  
The recommended basking temps should be around 80-90 during the daytime, & 70-80 for nighttime with no lights on at night.  Usually a 12 hour cycle of light & a 12 hour cycle of dark is good for them.
Do not use any loose substrates.  Instead use paper towels, reptile carpet, or non adhesive shelf liner.  They can get impacted from loose substrate.
What are you feeding?  Make sure the prey is not too large as well.  Do you offer fresh water as well?
Will you be offering calcium supplementation several times per week, too?

QUESTION: ok well i am feeding her crickets also i am giving her water but i am spraying it in her cage but is that ok or there another way to give her water also my cousin has one as well and he kind of acciedentally tore of the end of her tail so what should he do?

Hello Erica,

You can just put a water dish in there instead of spraying her.  Are you getting your lighting all adjusted as well as the temps?  That is going to be the major thing which will help her to improve.  If it is not bright enough in there Lucy will be lethargic & wont eat.
Your cousin's anole's tail will most likely break off, or the piece that tore will break off & regenerate.  He needs to just let it die off & not mess with it right now.  It will shrivel up & fall off most likely.
