Will my beardie get infected if it eats up another infected mate?

Question
QUESTION: I own a beardie for about 5 months. Yesterday my brother's friend brought over a infected beardie which i think it's just 1 week old asking me to see what had happen. It's just a little long then my finger. 3/4 of the body is darken the anus part was swollen red. I research online i guessed it was probably a rectum prolapse. Tried bathing it in sugar and later basking it in the light. Seems to be better as it started to eat and lick applesauce and some veggies. Due to limit space to hold them i share it with my 5 months beardie by putting another plastic container in it to house the infected beardie. By morning the infected beardie disappear and the plastic container top was open. Guess that my beardie might have eaten it. Could it  infect my beardie? There's no legal vet for exotics in my country.

Thanks
Have a nice day

ANSWER: Hello Jeremy,

Unfortunately yes, your larger dragon ate the smaller one, I hate to say.  That is why you can never put them even near a smaller one.  It needed to go in a tall tupperware container instead.
No, I doubt that he will get ill from an infection, but, he might have trouble with an impaction possibly.
I am sorry that happened to the little one.  Let me know how your dragon is doing.
Keep him well hydrated right now, & some pumpkin & applesauce wouldn't hurt either in case he does have a little bit of an impaction.

QUESTION: Today it seems a little weird. Resting on the cooler side of the cage and for the whole afternoon it did not poo poo. So i was worried and bath it in warm water. As usual it helps and i inspect the poo poo. It's seems usual , just one time poo poo without any unusual shape or corpse of the other beardie. Could he digest everything? Because sometimes i do find those mealworms shells in the poo poo. Anyway i feed mealworms daily despite of crickets. Will the negative effects be huge in a long run?

ANSWER: Hello Jeremy,

The mealworms are too fatty to be fed on a regular basis.  They can contribute to impactions, & fatty liver disease as well.  I really would go with crickets over mealworms as a staple feeders.
How is he doing today?  Is he pretty active?
I hope that he doesn't get impacted from eating the smaller one.
Let me know how he is doing.

QUESTION: Omg, I just couldn't believe what i saw today in the poo poo. I think i just have to face the fact that he ate the smaller beardie because i saw the small paws of that smaller beardie. Yea i just tried to change the food to crickets but it doesn't seems to want to eat. He can eat 30 small size to medium mealworms 1 shot but not crickets. Should i change it's diet immediately or slowly? Because i still have 100+ mealworm left crawling in my container. How much veggie should i feed him per day? Sometimes he doesn't eat the veggies and i will use the hamster to make him aggressive and he will open his mouth then i will put veggies in. I think this is wrong but he doesn't seems to eat.

Thank you so much for all the help

Answer
Hello Jeremy,

I am sorry about the little dragon.  I hope he didn't suffer, but I am sure being eaten alive wasn't good.
No, I wouldn't use fear tactics with your hamster so he doesn't get too aggressive.
He may be a little backed up still from eating the poor little one.
He can have as many greens & veggies as he wants, daily.
I would hold off on the mealies though for now & go with crickets.  If he is not hungry, there isn't much you can do, other than syringe feed him.
I would give him just a little while longer though, to clean his system out.
Anytime you change their diets, do it very slowly so as not to cause intestinal disturbances.
