Question
QUESTION: Ok so it said i had to many follow ups so i started a new thread if thats is ok with you?  I have the big long florescnet bulb i think and yesterday i put it near the basking light whicht gives off heat and my mom thinks it is halogen.  Today i think he has improved a bit but i cou8ld just be mistaking.  I fed him crickets today to see if he poops becasue we checked for bumps on his spine and him not using his back legs and there were no bumps and his legs were fine so if he doesnt poop were going to think about seeing a doctor.

ANSWER: Hello Josh,

That is fine!  :-))
Ok, which brand again, is your UVB, the Reptisun 10 flourescent then?  How old is it?  If it is older than 5 or 6 months, then you will need to replace it.  It should be within 6-8 inches of him, as well.  The halogen light, if that is what you are using, is fine.  It is nice & bright.  Just make sure it is directly beside the UVB on one end for the basking area.
So no deviations on his spinal area, that is good.  So you are pretty sure that he is not impacted from something?  The crickets, are they the space between the eyes, to avoid impaction?
Let me know how he is doing.  I want him to get better for you.  Continue with the calcium daily, as well.

QUESTION: The light should't be that old but just incase we are ording more after i finish this email and im not saying he isnt impacted im just saying nothing that relates to it is showing.  And yes i did the crcket check and theyy arent to big and he eats them up but maby ill try smaller crickets to be sure.  i will let you know how he is doing.

ANSWER: Hello Josh,

Ok, hopefully he is not impacted.  If the crickets are appropriately
sized then he probably is not impacted.
Good you are going to get another UVB light just to make sure he is getting adequate UVB exposure.
Keep me posted!

QUESTION: When ording the extra UVB i ordered a repti halogen basking lamp to make sure his basking light is halogen becasue i am not sure the one i currently have is.  yesterday he ate some grapes but still hasnt pooped.  It lookts like he has lost a little weight but when he puffed out on his basking log he looked fine.  We are thinking about consulting a vet if he doesnt poop soon.  He was pooping when i have him big crickets so hopefully that wasnt the problem.  DO you have any ideas to what is wrong with him?

Answer
Hello Josh,

Well, when a reptile in general, is low on calcium, it can affect their ability to go to the bathroom.  The GI tract functions primarily from calcium ions which promote smooth muscle contractions.  If he is low on calcium, then, it may take longer for him to go to the bathroom, or he might have a harder time when he does go.
I think that once his calcium levels get back up to par, then, his system should function more optimally for him.
Reptiles take awhile to improve, as their metabolisms are somewhat slow.
What you can try, if you feel he still might be having a hard time going to the bathroom, is getting some canned sugar free pumpkin, some butternut squash & mixing it with a couple of drops of olive oil & get that into him with a plastic dropper.  That usually helps the system get to moving, along with a warm bath & massaging the belly on the right side, gently, all of the way down to the vent to help out.
Let me know how things are going.
