constipated crested geckos

Question
QUESTION: Hi:

I have two crested geckos, Faith and Ned.  Unfortunatley Faith turned out to be a Fred.  Up until a month ago (they are now approximatley slightly over a year old) there was no problem, yet now thet fight.

So, I separated them.  Since I separated them, neither one of them has been "pooing".  They were going on a regular daily or every tow day period.  It has been about a week and a half, with only two BMs each.

I decided to reintroduce them.  Ned (the one who has been getting bit) quickly went up to Faith (Fred), and subsequently got nippped, let out a squeal and went done the vine, then actually pooped and hid in his bark cave.

I am very puzzled and concerned.  Currently I am building
a cage my self, and will be 4 feet high and have a divider down the middle to separate them.

There has been no change in anything, except for the separation.

Chris

ANSWER: Hi Chris,
As you know, you can't house males together and they really do need to be separated. You are lucky you haven't had any major incidents up to this point given their age.
Some reasons for less poo....
have they each been eating as much?  Less food, less out..
are they hydrated?  Have they been eating their babyfood or other fruits to get enough water intake?
How about the insects?  Have there been left over crickets or mealies that will eat the excrement of the geckos?

QUESTION: Hi Again:

I heavily mist them three times a day.  Both geckos have learned to drink from a bowl.  They seem to be drinking fine.  Somewhat more particular on there baby food, yet seems OK.  There is left over crickets however, and perhaps since I split them there is only one lizard per cage to eat the crickets, and therefore some are left over.
Whereas previously the two of them to go at it.  Yet I check on them regularly, can a cricket eat a poop overnight ?  Also, if I make my cage, and place a divider between them should it block the few of the other or can it be glass like the rest of the cage ?

Answer
Hi Chris,
Yep, a cricket or two can make short work of a "pile".
Making it glass, you may find that  they will glass fight which, if they run into it, will hurt their noses.  You can still make it glass, but I would cover both sides with a backdrop or even some contact paper.
On the fruit, try some finely cut up fresh fruits and see if that helps.
