young Eastern Fence Lizards

Question
I live in the woods in Georgia and a male and female Eastern Fence Lizard have taken up residence in a wood pile behind my house.  Lately I've noticed that there are tiny little versions of them scurrying around on the woodpile so I assume the female laid and hatched eggs.  What I was wondering, for my own general knowledge (and so I know how long my cute little critters will be around), is if you know how dependent the young are on their parents.  Are they hatched with instinctual knowledge of how to survive on their own or do they learn that from their mother?  And will they most likely stay in the area they are hatched or go off somewhere else on their own?

Answer
Hi AJ
How wonderful to be able to experience both the adults and the young of this species of lizard!
:)
I do not have much knowledge of this type of lizard but most- if not all lizards are born with the ability to be self sufficient and generally flee the nesting area soon after hatching

If the adults are still present in the area the hatchlings  will  be viewed as a food source with no maternal/paternal recognition by the mated pair

I hope that you are able to enjoy seeing them around for a while
