New Ball Python

Question
My GF and I recently bought a ball python. He/she ate last Sat when we bought him/her. Well, on Wed he was irritated and we were told to feed him again. He ate immediately. Well, I am concerned because I saw no waste then and I still see none. We spoke to the store owner again and he suggested a warm bath. Well, the minute I placed Butch in there the pink bulge emerged out of the snake end. That was Friday night. It's STILL OUT! What do we do? The store won't be open again till Tuesday.

Answer
Hello Misti,

How is Butch doing today?
Sometimes, it takes awhile before they pass any stools.  They have very slow digestive processes.
Perhaps he is dehydrated, as some are when purchased.
He prolapsed then, how bad is it?  One thing you can do is to dissolve some sugar in warm water, then cool the water down & soak the area in it for a few minutes.  The sugar can help with the swelling of the area to hopefully allow it to go back in on its own.
Do you have loose substrate in the tank?  If so, you will need to either take it out, or put Butch in a temporary bin until you can get the prolapse taken care of.  You don't want the area getting dirty with loose substrate on it.
If you have any ky jelly or aloe vera, that can work well in keeping the area moist so it doesn't dry out.
Let me know how it goes at the vets.
