Question
I wonder if i could give meat and vegetables in stead of insect and vegetables to my giant plated lizard?

Answer
Hi how r u??  I am going to try to answer ur question even tho my area of expertise is pretty much limited to the uromastyx lizard. Your guy lives in a very dry desert like environment. When we feed our lizards and when we house our lizards we try to keep their enclosure and their foods as close to their natural environment as possible. With my uros I mimic a desert. I feed only seeds and some flowers and mostly leafy green vegetables. If ur guy were in his natural habitat he would eats worms, crickets, small mice, pinkies and whatever seeds or vegetation there is in the desert. U can try chop meat or even chicken. Believe me I know these options would be less expensive and u don't have to keep running to the pet store for food. My only concern would be can ur lizard handle all that protein?  Would too much protein effect his kidneys??  Start researching this question on google. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good luck.          Cathy
