Horned Mountian Lizard with swollen eye.

Question
I am a student at a very small high school. My teacher has a Horned Mountian Lizard as a class pet. We recentally noticed that one of its eyes are swelled shut. We put some water in its eye but that has not seemed to have any effect. She is in an aquarium with potting soil, tree limbs, bubbling water source, and crickets. We have limited funds and want to know if there is anything we can do at school to get her eye back to normal.

Answer
Hello Nikki, do you think I can get some more information? To know what caused it I need to know a little bit more about the environment.
Tank size?
Food size?
Are the crickets left in overnight?
UV Lighting?
Humidity?
Temperature?
Anything else out of the normal besides the eye?

I am not a vet or do I intend to give medical advise. This is not a diagnoses in anyway.

Here is a web site where I found some information on swollen eyes in reptiles. From what I have read it is most likely an infection and needs medical attention as soon as possible. I suggest maybe try to setup a fundraiser. Let people know its for a class pet. Maybe put a donation box in the class room.

That site has information on eye problems so read about it.

As for finding a good vet. There are many sites that have lists of vets. So I will give you some links and you can look up your area and find one near you

Good luck and I hope he gets through this ok and doesn't loose his eye site. My thoughts are with him. Again good luck!
