two living in same big tank

i have a ball python, he's happy. today my son caught a small 4" lizard. we put him in the same tank, will the twpo be friends??

Well, mixing species is not recommended.  
Also, I am sorry but, putting that poor small lizard in with that snake is going to give him a heart attack.
The lizard needs light while the ball python doesn't necessarily require a light, just light of the room for day regulation.  
Snakes & lizards are natural enemies.  

Your little lizard needs his own tank, with a basking light & a Reptisun 10 tube light for his UVB light.
