Question
my iguana stays in one area of her habitat all the time and wont eat anything. also, she is limping when she does try to move around. i picked her up and one of her front legs was copmletely limp. could there be a serious problem and is there anything i can do for her at home? i just lost my job and cant afford to take her to a vet right now.

Answer
To be honest--if you couldn't move one of your arms, would this be a serious problem?

I need more details about your iguana's habitat, diet, age, size, weight, how long you have had it, what the temperatures and humidity are, etc, in order to make suggestions.

However, the iguana's leg may be broken, and this is not something that you can just let go, or fail to treat.  Broken limbs are very painful, and thus it is considered criminal neglect to leave them untreated in a pet.

If you cannot afford veterinary treatment, it is probably time to contact a reptile rescue group to take the animal, so that it can get veterinary treatment.

If there are problems with your husbandry that have led to this, correcting them will not be free, and the iguana still has the limb problem that requires treatment.  An iguana is not a low maintenance, nor low cost, pet.

If you do have some source of funds, seek out an experienced reptile vet, and see if they are willing to work out a payment plan.  It is vital that the iguana receive treatment immediately--delay could be both more costly, and potentially deadly, depending on the cause of the issue, and it is likely that the animal is suffering.
