Question
Hello, my son has a basilisk lizard for about a month and at first it fed well, but recently it has not been feeding well and it looks like it wont open its eye but you can see them move under the eyelids. What action do you recommend I do. I have sprayed the lizard with clean warm water frequently so see if that helps. Thank you  Ian

Answer
I have never kept a basilisk before, but I will try my best to answer your question.
It seems to have an eye infection of some kind, and it is only refusing to eat because it cannot see the food. I would suggest taking it to a vet, but in the mean time, you can force feed it by mashing up mealworms and rubbing them around his mouth. He should lick it off. Also, you can look for a commercial reptile eye medicine. I know they have many for turtles, but you may be able to find one for a lizard. Once again, I stress that you take him to a vet, otherwise there is very little chance that he will survive.
Good luck with the little guy, I hope everything turns out OK.
