Question
QUESTION: A anole that we have is not eating and he is shedding quite a bit, and we think that this is the reason why he is not eating too. We have been feeding the anole by force feeding it Flukers vitamins and minerals spray by syringe, since it is not eating crickets and meal worms. I'm not sure that this is safe is there any other way that we can feed this anole or any other product that would be safe too use.

ANSWER: Hello Rachel,

The shedding does make some difference on their appetite, yes.
What are the temps in the tank, & how do you measure them?  Do you use a stick on thermometer, a digital probe or a temp gun?
If you want to assist feed him, you can also use chicken or turkey babyfood along with the calcium which will help him if he is not eating right now.
He does need a full spectrum UVB lighting, do you have a good UVB for him?  If so, what type & brand are you using, is it a flourescent tube bulb or a compact or coil light?

QUESTION: Thank you for giving me advice on what to feed him, unfortunately he passed away. We had the temp and humidity  right on. The UVB was fine, but I think giving him the vitamins like that overloaded him, I appreciate your help hopefully I can tell them to do chicken and turkey baby food instead next time. About how much do you recommend giving for the next time we have this happen.

Answer
Hello Rachel,

OH NO!  I am so sorry about your anole!  Geez, we got to him too late.  He must have had parasites that were causing him to not have an appetite.
It is possible you could have overloaded him I suppose, but we would need to determine the reason that he was not eating first to get to the root of the problem.
Well, for a small anole, he would only need roughly 1 cc of food, daily.
Again, i am sorry for your loss.  :-((
