Question
female beardy digging day after day laying only 4 eggs each day not in clutches though this behavior has continued for 3 days now any suggestions

Answer
Hi Brian, I have run into this situation with females who are not satisfied with the laying chamber conditions. It took a bit of experimentation. I tried making the chamber larger, making the sand mixture deeper and changing the moisture level and consistency a bit. One female settled down and layed right away when I made the chamber a bit more like a tunnel by placing a large piece of cardboard at a 45 degree angle over the chamber and blocking the glass behind it. It was in the corner of the tank.
I can only suggest that you try some similar alterations, anyone of them may trigger her.  Keep an eye on her to make sure she is not straining to lay and that the eggs look well shelled. Insufficient calcium levels can affect the muscle contractions needed to expel the eggs which is further complicated by poorly shelled eggs. If you suspect that she is retaining eggs she may need to see a vet for shot of oxytocin.
