Question
My fire belly frog is green instead of brown, and burying itself in the mulch. Do you have any advise??

Answer
Hi Debbie, There is alot of natural variety with the colour of fire bellys, from bright green to quite dark brown. A single frog can change colour (usually from green to brown ) due to temperature, lighting, diet and stress. I've only known them to bury themselves in temperature extremes or lack of access to water. I assume you have an adequate swimming area for them, they are quite aquatic. Normal room temperature ( 70 - 75 F) is fine for them and they tolerate cool nights (60'sF) well. They will bury in a temperatures lower then that and also when it gets too warm which for them is the mid to high 80'sF. If you have an incandescent light on the tank it is easy to reach that temperature, I would rule that out as a possible cause first.
