Baby Green Anole

Question
QUESTION: I have a newly hatched green anole. I want to be sure I'm caring for it right. I already have two other green anoles, so I know how to properly care for them.

I feed the baby flightless fruitflies and I spray the leaves several times a day. It has UVA and UVB lighting. It is also in a separate 10 gallon tank from the other two. I will probably put in a piece of fruit in the tank for it once a day too. I just want to make sure I'm doing this right.

ANSWER: Hello Jessica,

Which UVB light are you using currently, is it a flourescent tube bulb or a ocmpact/coil light?  The brand should be stamped on the base of the bulb, so I need that also.
What are the temperatures measuring in the tank?  Are you using a stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun?  Are you housing it alone?
What type of substrate are you using, paper towel, sand?

QUESTION: For right now I'm using an old compact coil. Yes, I know that type is bad. I wanted to wait a little while to make sure it survives before I spend the money getting a light fixture and new bulb that is safer for it. I use carpeting in the tanks. The temp is between 70 and 80 degrees depending on the time of day. Yes it is alone and will stay alone until it is big enough to go into the other tank and if it is a girl. It seems to be doing well. It has a lot of energy and it seems like it's eating although I haven't seen it eat. I mist the tank several times a day and make sure it's drinking.

Answer
Hello Jessica,

Well, unfortunately, the compact/coil light could be causing problems so for now, if you aren't going to get a flourescent tube bulb yet turn the coil light off as it is probably causing more harm than good.  Just keep a basking light on it but no UVB at the moment.
Remember though, it cannot go too long without UVB lighting because without proper UVB it can't absorb the calcium & vitamins very well at all.
The carpeting is fine.  Make sure that no mold builds up in there, maybe try a water dish instead for water & humidity.
What type of thermometer do you have, a stick on, a digital probe or a temp gun?So he is doing a little better now?  I hope so!
Please keep me posted on him.
