Answer
Hi Dylan, You didn't happen to mention how long you have had your gecko but it is very normal for new animals not to eat very well (or at all) for the first week or so after you get them. If he is new then you just need to give him some time to settle in. Keeping his stress level down will also help. Make sure he has places to hide and he really should not be handled at all. Goldens do not tolerate handling very well. He also will not eat if he is too cool. He  needs a warm spot in the tank of 85 -90 F.
Goldens are also nocturnal so do not expect to see much activity during the day. They really don't start moving around and feeding until several hours after it has become dark. You will know when he is eating if you can see droppings in the tank, you can often see them on the glass.
Adult males usually have much more obvious preanal pores and a thicker area below the vent then females. They also tend to be more of a golden/yellow colour where the girls are a greenish/brown colour.
I've included a link that shows the preanal pores on a leopard gecko, they will be similar on a male golden.
