Question
QUESTION: I got a baby bearded dragon from petco four days ago I had a friend take
him home and setup his cage at his house cause I had to be at the doctor
and he ate a half a mill worm over there then I brought him home and he
won't eat I put crickets in there and acts untreated in them but won't eat
them and he stays under his basking light with his eyes closed alot how
do I get him to eat

ANSWER: Hello Dylan,

Can you tell me a little more about your setup?
What type & brand of UVB light are you using?  A fluorescent tube bulb or a compact/coil light?
What are the temperatures in the tank, & what type of thermometer are you using?  A stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun?
Do you use sand, tiles, or paper towels as a substrate for the bottom of the tank?
It does take roughly 1-2 weeks for them to become adjusted to a new home, especially when they are very young.
If you can post a few pictures of your setup for me, also.
As for the crickets, make sure they are smaller than the space between his eyes or he will be scared of them.  Do not leave them in the tank with him either, because they will stress him out & can bite him if some are left in accidentally overnight.  Try getting him to eat in a plastic bin.  Put only a few crickets in at a time, so that he doesn't feel overwhelmed.

QUESTION: see im useing the zilla kit tha i also got form petco it has a daytime bulb and a night time bulb and a lil round thermometer the temp in the whole cage in the day stays around about 80 85 somtimes 90 at night the temp 70 75 and im using reti carpet

Answer
Hello Dylan,

So you are using a Zilla UVB light then?  If so, please turn that particular light off.  Leave the basking light on, but turn the UVB off.  Those lights cause harm to their eyes by producing low wavelength UVB.
A round stick on thermometer will not be real accurate for measuring the basking temperatures.  You will need to get a digital probe or a temp gun.  The suggested basking temperatures are 95-110 & around 78-82 for the cooler side.
Do you use a light for night time?  He needs it dark to help him sleep.
How is he doing today?
