Bearded Dragons Temperment

Question
I got a Bearded Dragon from a Petco during the summer some time last year. He's growing great and eating great but he is very vicious. When I got him he didnt mind me picking him up and was really nice. After two weeks of having him he started puffing up and even snapping at me when I put my hand into the cage. If I try picking him up he whips around violently. I have continued to pick him up every few days and he's not as violent as he was but he still wants to bite my hands and puffs up so I have to wear gloves. Could there be something wrong with him? I feed him crickets and different kinds of fruits and vegetables on a regular basis.

Answer
If you are picking him up from above, he will regard you as a predator.  Try scooping him from the bottom.  Of course, you also have puberty to deal with now since you got him as a baby in summer.  Those raging hormones are adding to the mix right now.  I suggest continuing to pick him up and holding him, and not putting down till he's calm, also getting a Four Paws halter leash and putting him in it, and taking him around the house with you.  When it gets to be around 70 F, get him outside on that leash and taking him places.  The more he is with you, and giving him interesting things to see, will create that beardie bond that we all love.
