Question
Hi im the guy with two schneider skinks. Ive had em for about 2 years now and have them in a 40 gallon tank with a 10.0 UVB strip, 100 watt ceramic heat emitter, and an undertank heater. And because I'm on vacation I got a timer to set up for about 12-14 hours of sunlight a day. I have regular sand in there of course about 2 inches thick i would guess. I've got a place to hide, a couple Magnaturals (If you dont know what they are there magnetic rocks to climb), also a water dish and a wood piece and some odds and ends. So i guess all I really wanted to ask was is this is a fairly good set up and as for their diet. I've kept them on a fairly strict diet of crickets, the occasional superworm for protein (I cut their heads off for easier digestion). And on occasions I feed them strawberries, and a few different kinds of greens. Now not in my life have I seen a book on these amazing creatures, which is why I turn to you. What vegetation would you recommend and how often would you say? Also is it okay to give them a bath even though theyre desert dwelling? Thank you so much for your time, I remember asking you the simplest questions when I first got them, I've truly grown as an owner.

Answer
If they accept greens, then good calcium rich greens are what you want. Collards, dandelions, mustard greens and turnip tops are the best sources.  I've never had to cut the heads off supers for my scal kids.  Reptile teeth do a fine crunching job on a super's head.
