Breeding Yemen Chameleons

Question
Hi,
I want to breed my chameleons, can you tell me how long I should leave the male with the female in order to impregnate her,and does the male need to be present when she lays the eggs ?
Thank you.

Answer
With introductions, put the female in the male's territory and watch for color changes.  The male will darken to show interest.  The female will lighten if she's receptive, and darken if she is not.  If she is not take her out and try again in a day or two.  Once she is receptive, he will chase her and mount.  She will change color and must be taken out when she starts acting aggressive.  The male takes no active part after mating.
Make sure the female gets extra food, lots of calcium rich greens, and if silkworms are available, all she wants. Yemen chams can lay a lot of eggs and it takes a lot out of a female.
