Bearded Dragon fighting

Question
I have what I believe to be a male and female Beardie, and they have just recently began to fight. They're 2 and a half so I know are coming up to breeding age, but my question is do females show the same signs of aggression as males?

I took it from the guy I got them off that they were male and female, but now, my female is tail flicking, head bobbing and puffing her beard out as well as the male. Is this normal for females too?

Thanks

Answer
Hi Claire,
First off..did you check to see if they are the same sex?  If they "look different" in the vent area, they aren't the same sex. Did the person that you got them from house them together?  If not, even if both female or even male and female, they can and will fight.
Many beardies do not get along even if opposite sex.
Males will never get along together and will fight.
A dominate female can and will act like a male to "scare off" another beardie, be it male or female.
If they are indeed male and female, they really should not be housed together other that for a short period during breeding season if you plan to breed them, otherwise they should each have their own habitat. If they are male and female, she may be letting him know she is not ready for his advances quite yet..if ever.
So, in short...  check to see if they are indeed male and female.
Do get each set up in their own habitat before serious injury happens to one or both.
Yes, females can and do act dominate(puffing up, bobbing tail flicking) and yep, they can be the aggressor.
Many times two beardies that have gotten a long, even from hatch date, will all of a sudden begin to fight, many times doing grave damage to each other.
