Z-Shaped Beardie

Question
This is actually a question for someone else, but...It's for my own benefit? Somehow.

By far the freakiest thing I have seen about these guys.

This is what she said about it:

"Hi fellow Beerdie lovers [:)] well i have a 6-7 inch baby bearded dragon. i'm not sure exactly how old he or she is but anyway a few weeks ago she got sick (amost died) and i have been helpin her or him get better. i guess he had a lack of calicum and right lighting so he didnt move in like 4 days and than finally started pullin forward and started to get some life back in him. He has been doing better and better by eating and chasing crickets again, going to the bathroom, and just be alert, but i noticed that he is always hangin on to the top of the paper towel that i have in his tank so i moved his pillow over to the glass but had it like tilted up and he layed there all night and when i woke up and moved him off the pillow to eat his back stayed in the bent shape that he had sat in all night and..."

That was May 15th
The video is recent.
Do you have any sort of idea what could have caused this? She says she doesn't remember him falling or otherwise anything that may have injured him.

The dragon doesn't seem to be in pain or any sort of discomfort - he lets her handle him, and all other functions seem normal...

But she is reluctant to take him to the vet. No outward signs of pain, no seeming problems moving around (he flips himself over randomly throughout the day, and she has to right him, but she doesn't see that as a problem,) and she doesn't want the vet just saying "He's fine. Awkward, but fine. There's really nothing you can do."

So...I've tried everything I can properly come up with. "Oh, it could be dangerous, but I don't know what it is!" just won't do it for her, and neither of us can come up with any self-help ideas because neither of us know what's wrong.

My best hypothesis is that he's a lizard hunchback. If you have any ideas or ways she could try to help him out, it would be greatly appreciated...Likewise, I would settle for a list of "Everything that can possibly go wrong, so take him to the vet NOW!"

Answer
Hello Mikaela,

I could not get the video to come up for me.  It just took me to a forum.
Anyway, based on the entire story & description I would say it is a severe calcium problem which has progressed to metabolic bone disease.
Is she using any UVB lighting?  If so, what type & brand is she using right now, a fluorescent tube bulb or a compact/coil?  If she is not using any UVB light, then her dragon wont be able to absorb her calcium & vitamins properly.
She will need to get some liquid calcium because the powdered calcium is not strong enough.
Flipping themselves over is not good on them though, as they are not able to breathe very well on their backs & if left on their backs for long periods of time could suffocate & die.
I do sell liquid calcium on my reptile supply site so I highly recommend her considering getting some, & also getting a UVB light if she is not already using one.
The best one right now, is the Reptisun 10 tube bulb.  She can purchase it here:

Here is my reptile supply site for liquid calcium:

Let me know how she is doing.
