Beardies sudden illness, mortality?

Question
What would cause a healthy adult female sharing habitat w the same 2 companions of 2 years to have swollen eyes, lose weight, appear dehydrated, become lethargic and stop eating? I have followed all recommended routines from warm bath, isolation, increasing habitat temp (actually turned on blue lite bc for the last 5 - 6 weeks it's been over 95 degrees so only UVB light on. I purchase coil compacts because I have difficulty manipulating the tube lights insertion and removal and found them more convenient. While reading your responses and listing of brands to turn off, I am wondering if this is the problem I have. I also have lost 6 out of 23 hatchlings in the last 3 months using similar habitats and all the same conditions and room. I keep clean habitats, feed fresh produce per guidelines, change water frequently and definitely if crickets drown or there is dirt/feces. Monthly I wipe surfaces with chlorine based sanitizer and rinse w water. I also feed live crickets, meal and king worms treats weekly, apply calcium/vit D daily to food and use blue light unless temp is over 90 (sunroom faces West, we're in Southern CA, and it's been over 95 daily w warm to hot nights, so blue light has been off since August. Any help or suggestions is welcome. TIA Digna

Answer
Hello Digna,

I am sorry about the losses, that is devastating!
How long have you been using the compact/coil light?  What brand is the compact/coil light?
The blue light is not bright enough for them & it does not allow for the pupils to constrict.
The compact & coil lights emit it incorrect UVB wavelength which is a lower wavelength & it is close to UVC levels.  This causes Photo-kerato-conjunctivitis which is basically eye damage & swelling.
So you will need to use a bright white basking light such as a regular house hold light or a halogen light.
Also are you rinsing the areas with water very well that you are using the chlorine based cleaner?  I would use novalsan instead or a water to vinegar mixture to avoid any possibiliy of harmful fumes.

Do you have any pictures?

Let me know how they are doing.
