sick beardy?

Question
Hi
My beardy was a rescue beardy. He is totally blind in one eye and does not eat. I have had him for 4 months now. He has the 100w bulb in the one end of his tank and a IR lamp at the other. The UVB  Florescent light fixture stretchs the length of the cage/tank 7 inches up. His tank has a average temp of (digital probe thermometer) 30 degrees celcius and he has a hide away of 20-24 degrees celcius. I have set a 14/10 day night cycle. I leave fresh water and greens for him sprinkeled with calcium powder and offer him crickets sprinkelled with the powder. But still he will not eat. I have resorted to feeding him  chicken and veg baby food every second day through a syringe, I also open his mouth to pop in a cricket or two. I only once saw him try to eat a basil leaf but he kept on missing by 2cm. He poops almost every morning and the consistency varies from firm to runny. That is the only time he moves, even jumps. The rest of the time he sleeps! He weighs 375g and is full grown and is +- 35cm long. Can I go on like this? Will he evey eat by himself? I have even starved him for a week but still nothing!

Answer
Hello Lindsay,

OH that is too bad he has lost sight in one eye.
Which flourescent tube UVB bulb brand do you have right now?  The brand should be stamped on the base of the bulb.
What type of basking light are you using, a bright white light or a colored light?
Your temps are a little low.  You will need a basking temp of a range from 35C to 43C & the cooler end around 26C to 28C.  He will not be able to full digest his food at too low of temperatures & he will be prone to getting a respiratory infection also.
If you do not have a bright white basking light he will be lethargic & inactive as well.
Are you using calcium supplementation?  As an adult, he will still need calcium 3 times per week.
