Question
Hey, me again!
i just wanted to know if there was anyway to tell for sure if my leopard gecko is indeed pregnant.  I don't have a digital scale and i'm not sure if i see the eggs, she eats a lot thought, has a scratch on her head and is really fat???  What percent would you say that garentes her gravid??? I was also wondering how long the babies stay in the eggs??? thanks!

Answer
Hello Mackenzie,

The incubation usually lasts around 30-105 days depending on the temperature that you incubate them at.
When were they bred, do you know an approximate date?  She should be showing signs within 3-5 weeks of copulation.  Since she is still eating alot right now, she is not quite ready to lay.  Once she is near the end of her pregnancy, she will not eat very much as her belly will be taken up by mostly eggs & then she should lay.
The scratch on her head is most likely from the male getting her into position during copulation.
I would say it is pretty much a guarantee that she is pregnant if she has a fat belly.  You probably wont see the outline of eggs until right near the end.
