Question
Hi, I have a bearded dragon, female I think, who is not well. She is around 8 months old and was doing very well up til a couple of weeks ago. I changed her tank to a bigger one, and did not realize I had a low rated UVA UVB bulb. I have changed it to a 10.0 rated strip globe. She is on fake grass. She refuses to open her eyes, so I hand feed her. She eats very well, and when she does open her eyes they are clear. 2 weeks ago, they were cloudy, but ok now. Today when she walks her head is pulled to the left and she walks in circles, as though her left front and back leg do not work. When I hold her, she can move her legs as she struggles. She does not move very much at all, but when she does, it is in circles. I dust all her food with calcium powder, and always have. She eats crickets, carrots, peas, corn and some lettuce varieties. I bath her every few days. She shares her tank with a male, who is in perfect health. Can you please help me out with what I can do to help her get better?

Answer
Hello Julie,

Which brand of UVB 10 tube bulb are you using, the Zoomed Reptisun or the Exoterra Reptiglo?
What type of basking bulb is it, a bright white bulb or a colored light?

How large is the tank?  It sounds like she has some calcium issues right now.
I normally don't recommend housing a male & female together due to breeding issues.  Has he tried to mate her?

Are you feeding live feeders?  She needs calcium once daily, 5 times per week since she is under 1 year.  Also, another thing to consider, it is possible that she could have eggs too from being housed with a male.  This can jeopardize her health by developing eggs too young.  It will zap her calcium stores while she is still growing & cause metabolic bone disease.

Do you have any pictures of her?
