Desert Spiny Lizard?

Question
I'm about 98% sure my lizard is a desert spiny lizard. A couple friends caught him in Nevada and looks just like the pictures I've seen. I've had him since he was a baby. He started shedding a couple weeks ago. I read a response about spraying him with water or something, but that's not the problem. Ummmmm. My horny toad just died yesterday. I figured it was old age because he was caught and given to me as well. He died by his water dish and wouldn't move or eat at all. I figured it was old age, but now my desert spiny lizard is acting weird. I got him crickets a few days ago and he ate all of them, but when I got home from work today, I turned off his heat lamp and he didn't open his eyes. So, I nudged him a little and he started twitching and his body seized up. He opened his mouth like he was going to puke then eventually shut his eyes again. I'm not sure if he's trying to hibernate? Maybe? If so, then I might have buried a live lizard. I don't think that is possible, because his body had stiffened. Sorry, I'm rambling. Do you think my little guy is going to die? I don't know the temp on his cage and he only eats crickets.

Answer
These lizards do brumate so I would suggest having him checked by his vet to rule out any medical issues, then provide him with a nice cave to hide in.  You could exhume your horny toad and have him checked since in brumation, teir metabolism slows to a crawl and he may be alive.
