Question
QUESTION: FINALLY i got the mega-ray! i was not expecting that blueish-green color, its great. the only thing is that im kinda worried because the box it came in was very bashed up. i mean it seems to work but idk about how the UV is doing? is there any type of sign that i can see to now the UV is working   .

ANSWER: Hello Nick,

Stupid UPS!  How bad was the box bashed up?  Was the box that the Megaray was in ok?
If the light was bad, it would not be working.
Which one did you get again, the 160 or the 100?  You got the zoo one correct?
Unfortunately the only way to determine if the UVB is correct is by way of a Solar Meter.  I can pretty much guarantee that the UVB is fine.
I hope it doesn't go out because it was banged up or something.
The color is bazaar isn't it?

QUESTION: it was mostly the outer box, so i really think it will be ok. i was scared because i had just received the bulb and i was pretty freaked. its a 160watt sb zoo grade. thx, i really appreciate ur help!

ANSWER: Hello Nick,

Great it was not the box that the actual light was in.  What a pain.  They just throw stuff around sometimes, in shipping, it is so annoying.
Remember, you do have a 6 month warranty so, if anytime during that period your light goes out he will replace it for free.  I think you  just have to pay for shipping I believe.
I hope it works well for you.  Your ceramic fixture, what is it rated to in watts, 250 or 500watts?
Good luck!

QUESTION: its that zoo-med deep dome, the maximum amount of watts is 160. the only other one they had could only handle 100watts. is there a problem with that?. i do like the fact that its lined with aluminum because i heard it reflects UV well. it says its made for a power sun 160watt, i have also notes
from past experience that the mega-ray is not as hot as a power-sun.

Answer
Hello Nick,

So your ceramic fixture can only handle 160 watts max?  That can be a problem.  A good rule of thumb to follow is you need double the wattage of what wattage your bulb is.  So if you have a 160 watt,  you need a ceramic fixture that will handle at least 320 watts.  That will cause your ballast to get too hot.
Where did you get your dome from?
I think the Powersun does get hotter than the Megaray yes, but, for safety you will need to get a higher rated wattage ceramic fixture for that.
