Will my bearded dragons tail get tail rot??

Question
Hi and thank you for helping me! A week ago I purchased a baby bearded dragon from Petsmart. While an employee was putting the baby into a critter container, she accidentally squeezed the tip of his tail with the lid. I'm sure it is not a bite from the cage mate, because I checked its tail before i bought him. The dent in his tail occurred from it being squeezed with the lid. His tail has a dent and i wonder if it will cause him any trouble or if it will fall off? Should i return him to the petstore? I really dont want to take him back because i was lucky enough to get one with a very vibrant yellow color. No blood was drawn from the injury, but the place will it got squeezed looks dark.

Answer
Hello Nadia,

Do you have a picture of his tail for me?
Chances are he will probably lose the tip of his tail, but he should not lose his tail or get tail rot, no.
This is a fairly common occurrence & he should be no worse for the wear after the tail heals or dries up & falls off on the tip.

You can get some antibiotic ointment to put onto the area to help the area ward off any infection if any starts to set in.
